Overall view of the chapel

Design documentation for construction of the Chapel of St. Herman of Alaska at German Field of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Valaam Monastery. The project goal was to recreate a Valaam heritage object lost during the Soviet period, restoring its historical appearance. The work was based on an early 19th-century historical photograph and surviving archival schematic drawings (plan, section, and side elevation) prepared by the monastery novice V. Ivanov. The sources generally match in overall composition but differ in dome and finial details, indicating changes during construction. The available iconographic material was sufficient to reconstruct the architectural image and produce working drawings. Chief architect / author: Yuri V. Kirs, Architectural Studio “Eidos”. Client: Spaso-Preobrazhensky Valaam Stavropegial Monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church. My role: 3D modeling (Revit/BIM), visualization, working documentation.
