“Friendship Axis” Square (Chapygina - Ufimskaya)

Competition design for a small urban square between Chapygina Street and the new Ufimskaya Street in Saint Petersburg (2006). The core idea is a clear pedestrian and visual link between the two directions while respecting everyday functional routes from inner-yard spaces and connections to surrounding traffic streets. The layout is organized by a gently curved main transit “axis” and a sequence of side seating pockets. Flower beds, benches, and lighting are integrated; active paved surfaces and landscape elements create a contemporary, dynamic character with straightforward wayfinding. The entrance from Chapygina Street is emphasized by a memorial stele as a symbol of friendship between Ufa and Saint Petersburg. The square supports both transit movement and short stays. Project role: architectural design development, 3D modeling (3ds Max), rendering, post-production, preparation of presentation materials.
